WE MUST PRAY NOW!




Matthew 26:41-42
41.Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Couldn't you watch with me even one hour?42.Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!"

One day, I read something that really blessed me, “If you wait too long, the future will be gone before you get there”
  • There is a future that God has promised us and we must enter it at once by engaging in prayer.
  • When you notice your spiritual temperature going down, you check yourself into the red hot oven of His presence by engaging in rugged prayer drills.
  • Jesus asked his disciples, can’t you watch in prayer with me for just one hour? The disciples were sleeping in the place of prayer and instead of praying.
Beloved, we have a duty knocking at our gate right now, this duty must not be ignored or turned back but be welcomed.
Prayer is a heavenly duty and we must welcome it and embrace it.
Why must we pray now?
1. We cannot put off our answers till tomorrow or when we are ready
If we do not pray now, we will not get our answers now. Whenever you receive a call to prayer and we put it off or we delay it, we have also delayed our answers and deliverance !
The Holy Spirit has a reason for calling us to pray. So when you hear the clarion call, respond to it now!!!
2. If we allow laziness, then we are welcoming poverty
We know that one of the main reasons why our prayer life is not as robust as we desire it to be is the spirit of laziness. We sleep off in the place of prayer!!!
The bible says in Proverbs 24:34, “A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber”
  • When we sleep or fold our hands instead of praying we will be spiritually poor without power.
  • I declare that we will not be victims of spiritual poverty in Jesus name!
3. If we do not pray now, we will be wasting time
What we do with our time determines that quality of life we live.
Prayer is a priority and if we spend the time of prayer doing other things, we waste valuable time doing unimportant things. What a waste of time!
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says “ there is time for everything” We must not waste the time of prayers on other things and end up in regrets and pitiable in  life.
4. There is a battle going on right now in the spirit realm, it requires urgency
Jesus said to the disciples, pray that you fall not into temptation! There is a battle going on, why deny it? Satan is working over time and we must rise up in prayer to defeat the enemy in Jesus name! You will not fall into temptations in Jesus name! You will overcome temptations in Jesus name!
5. We must pray now as a united force with one Spirit
When we are united in prayer, it is so powerful. Corporate prayer is amplified prayer!
One will chase a thousand but two ten thousand! You have no idea what power we have when we all pray in one accord. The enemy knows this and that's why He will do everything possible to disconnect us in a season when we ought to be united in prayer like the church did in Acts 12.
The weapon of prayer is a weapon that attacks the root not the leaves and the branches. Recently, I saw a tree that was cut down in our Lagos church some few months ago and it had started growing back again, then the Lord said to me, you just cut it down but did not uproot it.
This is what happens when we just deal with things in the physical without addressing them in the spiritual. When we go into the spirit realm, we attack the root.
Jesus said every tree that the Father has not planted shall be uprooted (Matthew 15:13).
  • Let everything that wants to oppose our prayer lives die in Jesus name!
  • The spirit of discouragement in the place of prayer in arrested by fire in Jesus name!
Action points
  • Join in the daily 6pm conference fellowship and prayer
  • Ensure you are on the daily fast till 12noon
  • Be glad to make it for the services this month to empower your prayer life
